Sharon had been involved in fairly heavy drinking behavior since her junior year in college. Now, eight years later, she drank more than ever. One Saturday night when she wasn't feeling all that well, Sharon decided to stay home, chill out, and watch television. While trying to find a special program to watch that she would find interesting, she instantly got involved in a program about teenage and young adult drinking issues.
The commenter articulated the difference between alcoholism and alcohol abuse and then discussed the topic of alcoholic symptoms and alcoholic behavior. When the speaker discussed a person's symptoms of withdrawal and some of the more common alcoholic symptoms and signs that alcohol addicted individuals reveal, Sharon got quite alarmed because it virtually seemed as if the speaker was talking directly to her.
After watching the TV program, Sharon promised herself that she would call her health care provider the next business day and schedule an appointment to discuss her careless and excessive drinking.
When the next business day arrived, true to her word, Sharon called her doctor and made an appointment. In the meantime, she went online and did a search for alcoholism symptoms. Especially noteworthy were the following symptoms or signs: serious work-related and relationship problems, increasing irritability, sleep problems, sneaking a few extra drinks before social events, and making excuses to drink at almost every opportunity.
Simply stated, due to the fact that Sharon exhibited all of these signs she went further in her online search and found a number of websites and blogs that articulated different alcohol addiction symptoms and warning signs. One of the symptoms that really grabbed her attention was the following: "Do you frequently drink after telling yourself that you won't?"
Another alcoholic sign that grabbed her curiosity was the following: "Have people at your place of employment bothered you by frowning upon your irresponsible and excessive drinking?" A third alcoholic warning sign was the following: "Do you need a drink when you first get up in the morning?"
The final alcohol dependency warning symptom that made her feel fairly on edge about her excessive drinking was the following: "Has your ambition diminished since you started drinking more frequently?" When Sharon read this sign she clearly recognized that drinking had become a critical difficulty in her life because of her diminished energy level and also because she quit pursuing her goals and her dreams.
After reflecting on all of these unhealthy alcoholism signs and symptoms, Sharon at first felt miserable. Then something thrilling came about. She realized that she was going to see her health care provider about her excessive drinking and she also reflected on the fact that that she would discuss her alcoholism warning signs and symptoms.
In fact, for the first time in several months, Sharon sincerely felt a sense of hopefulness because she was addressing her excessive drinking and was at long last ready to make the needed changes so that she could regain the life that was slipping away.
