A new report has been released talking about things your physician may not have told you about fish oil. It deals with many different relevant topics but mainly discusses your choice between krill oil or fish oil for getting Omega 3's.
For instance, in my case I have been having fish oil supplements for over a decade until about a year or so ago. Why did I stop? Mainly because I started to increase the quantity of fish I had regularly.
I had heard that too much fish oil was actually unhealthy, so I kind of guessed that I was probably getting sufficient with my Kippers for breakfast and relatively frequent portions of Salmon and/or Tilipia.
In the report, I found out among other things about the levels of both mercury and pcb's in fish. More interestingly, I learned which types were more likely to be contaminated and which less.
There was information there I immediately explained to my wife, since we have somewhat different opinions about the fish we will eat. You should grab this report for this reason alone. Just too much to recopy here, and besides, I think you should read through the report. There is a lot more information you need to know about Omega 3's and the different types, how to get them and how they work.
I've never seen such dry and dull material presented as well.
The bottom line is that krill possess some important advantages over most fish oils for a variety of reasons not the least of which is sustainability of the harvest and the environmental aspects of the resource. A few of the side effects of krill oil are very positive.
Now it's not without some controversy, that is one more thing I like about this report. It spells out where and why people disagree. Frankly I buy their argument that a managed harvest of Krill doesn't necessarily threaten the world's whale population. But the truth is you can judge for yourself.
Krill oil bears some important advantages over fish oil. Despite learning this, I will personally stick to my frequent eating of fish, even though I might change the mix of fish I eat consequently.
If you are not a great fish eater, I would strongly suggest you think about locating a good source of Krill Oil. In my judgement they have made a solid case to choose Krill oil as the winner in the krill or fish oil debate
